EXPORTS

Furniture factories in Romania have sent to export products worth over EUR 2 billion, over 80 percent of what is made in Romania in this sector is sent for export, Romanian Furniture Manufacturers’ Association (APMR) informs, which includes more than 450-member companies, zf.ro quotes.

Many manufacturers send more than half of production to export or even the entire production, an example being Aramis, the largest exporter and player on the local furniture market, which exports 98 percent of production. In total, 19 furniture manufacturers have entered the top 500 exporters in Romania. They bet on exports while the consumption in Romania has been declining for several years due to the economic crisis that has cut off 700 companies from the list of furniture manufacturers.

The demand for the furnishings manufactured in Romania is expected to be extremely profitable in the coming years, given that Ikea, at group level, wants to double the volume of ‘Made in Romania’ products (furnishings and decoration), from 4 percent, in the next five years.
